Three youths travelling by a motorcycle were mowed down by a passenger bus near Champua in the district on Thursday evening.
The deceased were identified as Akash Mahakud, Sunil Naik and Dulu Naik.
They were on their way to get tickets for an opera. Their motorcycle had a head-on collision with a passenger bus named ‘Bulbul’ coming from the opposite direction.
Police said that while Akash and Sunil died on the spot, the third victim Dulu succumbed to his injuries at the District Headquarters Hospital.
Eyewitnesses said that the driver of the bus also lost control over the wheels, following which the vehicle skidded off the road after hitting the motorcycle.
