Three persons, including a minor boy, were killed and another was seriously injured at Kaliahata under the Telkoi police station in Keonjhar district following a quarrel among labourers working in a brick kiln.
According to sources, Bania Munda (16) had a quarrel with Ratnakar Mundari (50) on Wednesday night. Bania attacked Ratnakar with an axe and killed him on the spot. Two other labourers, Dukhabandhu Palei (60) and Kanda Maharana (16), were also killed while they tried to protect Ratnakar.
The injured labourer, Budhu Munda, was admitted to the Keonjhar hospital for treatment.
The police seized the axe used in the murder. But accused Bania Munda is absconding. The three deceased persons’ bodies were recovered from the spot and sent for postmortem. Further investigation into the case is on.
