Police on Thursday arrested three anti-socials who were involved in a number of extortion and robbery cases in Puri town.The trio terrorised shopkeepers and passersby by brandishing lethal weapons and used to collect extortion money and also looted them.
The cops seized iron rods and a knife from their possession.Later they were forwarded to court of the SDJM and they were sent to to sent them to jail custody after their bail petitions were rejected The nabbed trio were identified Dherendranath Baral alias Papu of Dhanakoti Sahi (44), Keshab Prusty alias Kishan (32) of Gudia Sahi and Jayadev Kandi of Banguri Gaon under Kaktpur block in the district.
On a tipoff, a special police team conducted a raid and nabbed them red-handed when they were extorting money near Barabati-Jaga parking place from shopkeepers and commuters.The nabbed goons were involved in series of cases relating to extortion, dacoity and murder, police said.
