Jogendra Majhi, a RNFI agent, is located in his village Khamtari of Nuapada district providing digital financial facilitation services to the rural people of his locality.

"It is a company registered under the Companies Act and incorporates several business activities including facilities for money transfer," says Jogendra, a high school-educated.

Jhankar Majhi of Kirkita village is working in a medicine company in Hyderabad. He was in his village on leave for a week and returned to his work place in March last just before the lockdown was declared. As the company did not open, he had to stay idle and required money to manage his stay in Hyderabad. Bhajman, Jhankar's father, who  could'nt move to the bank due to lockdown was worried, how to send money to his son. Jogendra came to his rescue at this juncture.  He sent Rs 13,501 in five phases to him. "Before transferring the needed amount I send R 1 as trial to confirm that the money is remitted to the genuine account," says Jogendra.

Jogendra sends the money through a mobile app. He doesn't need any office to operate. "What is needed is an android mobile with internet facility.”

"Usually, I sit here in this Jagyan Mandap to do my work, when people call me for service. I am in this work since last 8 months. This is of crucial importance during the time of lockdown. Most migrants stranded in different parts of the country are in need of money and I have already transferred Rs 5 lakh in this period," says Jogendra.

One such migrant is Mohan, who was working as a helper in Chennai. He wanted money to buy a bicycle to return to his village due to lockdown. His father sent Rs 6,000 through Jogendra. Mohan immediately bought a bicycle and paddled to the district in ten days. He is now in quarantine centre at Bargaon of Khariar block.

"The Digital India is a good step. I have already sent money to about 1,000 people residing in different parts of the country. Many students reading outside are also benefiting from my service," says Jogendra.
