Tension prevailed after a faceoff between police and locals at Govindpur in Cuttack district on Friday. The irate locals, who were staging a demonstration over a youth’s murder, scuffled with police when they arrived at the spot to pacify them and lift their road blockade.
Sources said the deceased Kandura Bhoi of Kajalpur village was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants late on Thursday night. Demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the youth’s murder, locals staged a demonstration by blocking the Govindpur-Cuttack road.
Vehicular communications was hit for hours following the road blockade. However, senior police officials claimed that already a case has been registered and raids are being conducted in Cuttack Sadar, Niali and Govindpur areas to nab the accused involved in the case.
