Tension erupted in the Angul District Headquarters Hospital on Friday over alleged removal of eyes of a four-year-old girl kept in mortuary of the hospital premises without knowledge of the deceased.
While the parents of the girl lodged an FIR in this connection, a hospital staffer was attacked. According to reports, the baby girl of one Anjan Gochhayat, a resident of Nuahata village in Banarpal area, was admitted to the DHH as she was suffering from fever. She passed away on
Thursday while undergoing treatment and her body was kept in the mortuary for an impending autopsy on Friday.
However, when her body was taken out of the morgue, family members noticed that her eyes were missing and a white layer had formed around the eyes.
They later alleged that her eyes had been removed. The police have started an investigation into the matter.
