Tension gripped the VSS Medical College Hospital at Burla on Friday following the death of a 15-day-old child in the Paediatrics ward. The kid had been admitted in the hospital on Thursday in critical condition.
Father of the child, Rakesh Pansari, a resident of Khetrajpur in Sambalpur town alleged that the doctors didn't attend the child properly leaving the PG students doing the treatment.
"Not a single senior doctor attended the child on Thursday night or Friday morning in spite of our sincere request though the child was shifted to the VSS in critical condition from Sambalpur," alleged Pansari, who added that the negligence of the doctors led to the death of the child on Friday morning.
After death of the child, Pansari and several others present there had hot exchange of words with the resident doctors, including senior doctor SK Murmu. They lodged an FIR against Dr Murmu for his negligence.
On the other hand, Dr Murmu and the PG students rubbished the allegation of negligence in treatment. "We took every care of the child," Dr Murmu said. The PG students also lodged an FIR in the Burla police station against Pansari and other relatives of the deceased kid, who created ruckus at the hospital. Meanwhile, hundreds of people and the office bearers of Marwadi Yuba Manch met Sambalpur SP Nikhil Kanodia on Friday demanding actionagainst the erring doctors for the death of the child.
