Tension ran high at the premises of Tata Steel’s ;proposed Gopalpur SEZ for hours on Friday as two groups squabbled during a public hearing over construction of SEZ and industrial park near Kanishi block in Ganjam district.
Sources said some locals created a ruckus alleging that the public hearing conducted in a fair manner as people, who would be affected due to the projects, were not invited to place their grievances.
Following the incident, another group of locals reached the spot and tussled with the protesting group.
A Tata Steel official, Sushant Mishra, said the public hearing was conducted in a proper way.
