Temple reforms: SJTA affidavit by Aug-end

PNS

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) would submit its affidavit by the end of August on the steps taken after the Supreme Court’s directives on Shreemandir reforms.

The decision was taken at a meeting between SJTA officials and different sevayat bodies on Saturday.

Sources said the meeting discussed how devotees can have smooth darshan of the lords and get the Mahaprasad at fair price. Moreover, the administration had a detailed discussion on donations, which the apex court has asked not to collect directly from the devotees but rather through Hundis.

The management of Chullas at the temple’s kitchen, which came up for discussion, will be brought under the purview of the temple administration.

As the Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae would visit the temple in August, the SJTA asked temple servitors to apprise him about all their problems.

Out of the 12 proposals suggested by the SC in its interim judgement, the meeting of the SJTA and Nijogs took up only four for discussion on the day.
