The Brajrajnagar police on Wednesday nabbed two teenagers who were fabricating their own blackmail tactic to extort money from their parents.

Three Class-X students of the Shiksha Niketan, Priyanshu Gupta, Shubham Prasad and Prateek Khalko, plotted their blackmail move. To pursue the plan, the trio met at Gandhi Chowk, but Prateek decided to return home. However, Priyanshu and Shubham continued with the plan and took a train to Cuttack. When both boys did not return home till late evening, their parents filed a missing complaint at the Brajrajnagar police station. On Wednesday, mothers of both the children received phone calls that their wards have been kidnapped and the caller demanded Rs5 lakh for their release.

After investigation, the police came to know that the two boys were seen with their classmate Prateek. The police quizzed Prateek and learned about the plot. The police also tracked them on CCTV footage at the Sambalpur railway station and traced the duo’s location with their call record. They were eventually nabbed in Cuttack.
