The agitating teachers on Saturday deferred their strike till November 30 after the State Government assured them to look into their demands.
Following a discussion with Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, the Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum temporarily put off their agitation giving time to the Government till November-end.
The Government assured the teachers’ body to provide salary of 46 days and clear 30-day salary dues of college teachers. After the assurance, the Block Grant teachers and 662 category college teachers decided to defer the strike.
Notably, the teachers were on strike at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar since August 16 seeking benefits of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, service conditions and job regularization, among others, under the new Grant-in-Aid (GIA) system. They had also stopped conducting classes in schools from September 6.
