The Commissionerate police on Friday arrested a private tutor for allegedly killing a student's mother at his coaching centre at Chandrasekharpur here on Thursday evening.
The accused Rasmiranjan Sahoo has confessed that he killed Jaya P Sila by strangulating her, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
According to reports, Jaya, a resident of BJB Nagar here, had on Thursday gone to the coaching centre by her car to inquire about her son's progress in studies. As she started asking questions to Sahoo in this regard and expressed displeasure over the studies, the teacher allegedly attacked her in a fit of rage.
Moments later, Sahoo called the car driver, who was standing outside the coaching centre, and told him that Jaya has become unconscious.
The Chandrasekharpur police reached the spot when the duo was gearing up to take Jaya to hospital in the car. The police rescued Jaya and admitted her to the Capital Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Following the incident, the police had on Thursday detained Sahoo and the car driver for interrogation and arrested the former in Friday.
