Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested Tangarpali Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Kaushalya Dharua (39) and her husband Indramani Dharua on the charge of taking bribe of Rs 9,000 from a contractor to clear a bill worth Rs 4.46 lakh.

Nityanand Patel, a contractor and a resident of Ujalpur in Sundargarh district, had on Wednesday lodged a complaint that Dharua demanded the bribe amount at two per cent rate to clear his bill after approval of Tangarapali BDO. Accordingly, vigilance sleuths on Thursday laid a trap and caught Dharua while accepting the bribe amount form Patel and handing over the amount to her husband in her block office, informed Sundargarh Viglance DSP P Kishan.
