Take action against Ranendra too: BJP to ECI

PNS

BJP candidate for Athagarh Assembly constituency Biswasundar Mishra on Thursday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take action against his BJD rival Ranendra Pratap Swain for holing meeting with primary teachers and thus, violating the model code of conduct.

Swain held a meeting with primary teachers at the Khuntuni Polytechnic Institute and asked them to work for him in the ensuing elections. Over one hundred teachers attended the meeting. They were also caught in a Flying Squad camera. District Collector Girish SN has suspended two of the teachers and Block Education Officer Bijay Kumar Panda. He has also transferred transferred BRCC Kishor Behera out of the constituency. Besides, the Returning Officer has served show-cause notice to 11 more teachers caught in the video clipping, the BJP candidate said at a Press conference here.

Mishra wanted to know why Swain has not been asked for a clarification yet. “I urge the Election Commission to take action against Swain too,” he said.

He also alleged that Khuntuni Police Station IIC Gyanaranjan Samal is threatening people to caste vote in Ranendra’s favour failing which he will bind them in false cases. Mishra demanded that the IIC be transferred soon.
