A large-scale sanitation campaign under the Swachchh Bharat Mission was launched at the Bhubaneswar railway station on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti on Thursday.

The campaign was inaugurated by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who administered the oath regarding sanitation and cleanliness to the large public gathering at the railway station.

The guests of the function personally led the volunteer force at the station in cleaning activities by personally wielding brooms.

An impressive awareness programme in the form of cultural activities like folk dances, street plays and magic shows was organised that captivated the audience and gave a very strong message on cleanliness to the public.

Among others, local MP Prasanna Patasani, Railway Board Executive Director AK Behera, Khurda Road Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) SK Singh and other senior officials of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) were present. ECoR sources said that similar cleanliness activities were organised at all railway stations and railway colonies of its jurisdiction.
