Worried over jaundice outbreak in Cuttack, the Odisha Surakhya Sena (OSS) has sought intervention of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Submitting a petition to the rights panel, Sena president Abhishek Joshi urged the commission to take stock of the situation.
“We urged the commission to instruct the State Government to take urgent measures to stem the rot of jaundice. If the State is found feeble to meet the challenges of jaundice then the service of the Central Government can be invoked to deal with the syndrome so that the deteriorating health condition of people can be arrested,” Joshi stated. Joshi contended that the Health Department and district administration have no clue how to deal with the precarious situation. “The health apparatus of the State Government is in disarray. The less it is talked, the better,” said Joshi.
