PNS

The chariots of Devi Subhadra and lord Jagannath arrived at the Shree Gundicha temple here on Sunday morning.

The pulling of the chariots of Devi Subhadra and lord Jagannath, which were stranded in Bada Danda on the first day of the Nabakalebara Rath Yatra, was done by enthusiastic devotees.

The Daitapatis performed the Mailam, Abakasha and Tadap lagi rituals of the lords by 8.30 am before the pulling of the chariots began. The pulling of the Darpadalan Rath of Devi Subhadra began at 9 am while the Nandighosh chariot of lord Jagannath was pulled at 9.20 am.

While Devi Subhadra’s chariot reached the Gundicha Temple at 10 am, that of lord Jagannath arrived at the destination 45 minutes later.

On the Rath Yatra day on Saturday, only the Taladhwaja chariot of lord Balabhadra had arrived at the Gundicha Temple by the stipulated time. The chariots of Devi Subhadra and lord Jagannath were halted at at Badasankha and Balagandi, respectively, as the evening set in.

In view of the death of two women devotees in stampede on Saturday, police had taken special measures to ensure no such unfortunate occurrences during the pulling of the two chariots on Sunday.

The Pahandi of the deities to the Shree Gundicha

Temple would be held on Monday, said president of Daitapati Nijog Ramakrushna Das Mohapatra.
