As many as 100 students from 10 Government and private English medium schools in the capital city here participated in a mock Assembly session on Saturday. Organised by Talk Bhubaneswar, it was inaugurated by Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kalpataru Das.
Projecting themselves as MlAs, the students introduced ten bills, passed the bills and participated in a question and answer session.
The children acting as MlAs asked several questions on education, health, sports, while children playing the role of Ministers in different portfolios gave replies.
later, in the valedictory session, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani, Energy and Information and Public Relations Minister Arun Sahoo and senior journalist Rabi Behera attended the event and shared their experiences.
They also called upon the youth to come forward and participate in politics for a sustainable democracy.
On the occasion, Talk Bhubaneswar founder Satyasish Mohanty urged the State Government to declare the foundation day of Bhubaneswar as a Government holiday.
