The Council for International Student Alliance (CISA) on Tuesday demanded constitution of a Students’ Commission in the line of the National Commission for Women to address the genuine issues of pupils.

“As per the All India Education Survey (AISES) conducted by NCERT, there are almost 23 crore (22,89,94,454) children studying in 13 lakh schools across the country.

In higher education, with 700 universities and more than 35,000 affiliated colleges enrolling more than 20 million students, Indian higher education is growing over the years. But, students continue to suffer from neglect despite attempts by various governments to improve

their plights,” CISA president Debi Prasad Nayak told reporters here. A Students’ Commission would act as a statutory body to safeguard the rights of the students with a view to providing better opportunities to them in pursuing their studies and honing their skills, added Nayak.
