Students-called J'suguda bandh successful

PNS

The Jharsuguda Bandh call, given by the lN College Students’ Union in demand of transfer of the college building from the Jharsuguda Government Polytechnic College to the lN College, received an overwhelming response on Monday.

Vehicular movement at various places came to a standstill with private bus operators, autos and other vehicles remaining off the roads. Hundreds of students took to the streets and blocked the National and State Highways at several places by burning tyres on the streets. Besides, Government offices, educational institutions and shops and other business establishments at several parts of Jharsugda were closed on the day.

later, Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Chairman Kishore Mohanty went to the dharna spot and assured all Government support to the students sitting on fast-unto-death from Saturday.

On the other hand, local Congress MlA Naba Kishore Das said, “The Technical Education Minister has assured of quick disposal of the lN College’s building transfer issue shortly. There should be no politics to be played in this issue as the Government has assured an early solution in this regard”. The MlA said this after attending a high-level meeting at the Assembly in Bhubaneswar attended by the Jharsuguda Collector and the Principals of the Government engineering college and the lN College.
