PNS

A delegation of students of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (NSCB) College here met the local MlA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi to apprise her about some problems afflicting the city-based college and seeking relief. “A good number of students are reading here, but the problems remain unsolved in spite of repeated requests and demands before the Government,” said students’ union president Manas Ranjan Das told.

During the meeting with the MlA at her residence, the president and his union members requested Dr Raseswari for a direct road to the college from the city as they have to spend a lot of time and energy for using almost a U turn road via Dhanupali or Sindurpank Chowk.

“Due to the increase in the number of students, the college building needs to be expanded for more class rooms and hostels for boys and girls are also needed here. The college also needs a permanent principal who can take interest for its development,” the students told the MlA. They further demanded extra teaching staff as per the strength.

The students while submitting a memorandum demanded for opening of honours and PG courses. The student delegation also demanded that a statue of Netaji be installed in the college premises as the college is named after the great freedoom fighter.

The MlA gave assurance to the students to take the matter with the Government and the Higher Education Department.
