Members of the All Odisha Students’ Voice (AOSV) on Tuesday gheraoed the residence of Health Minister Niranjan Pujari and raised slogans against him by holding placards over the mishap at the Hi-Tech Medical College Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The agitators also hurled tomatoes at the house of the Minister. A scuffle ensued between the on-duty policemen and the agitators. The police detained the agitators to control the situation.

The AOSV members demanded cancellation of the licence of Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital and arrest of its owner Tirupati Panigrahi in connection with the AC compressor explosion and subsequent body mix-up row.

“The healthcare system in the State is a matter of concern. There are reports that the Hi-Tech Hospital is not giving the compensation to the families of victims. The government is also not showing its interest in this matter. We demand cancellation of the hospital’s licence and arrest of its chairman,” said an agitator.

Earlier on Monday, the Student Congress had gheroaed the Health Minister’s residence over the same issue.
