Hundreds of Inclusive Education Volunteers (IEV), who work under the Inclusion Education for Disabled (IED) programme of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), held a demonstration for fulfilment of their three-point charter of demands.
The teachers under the leadership of their association president Siba Sankar Panda demanded stopping retrenchment of the volunteers, provide grant-in-aid for training of the volunteers and recognise them as Government employees. Panda said they have been working for the State Government to recognise divyang stu-dents aged from 6 to 14 years and providing them education. The volunteers questioned the Government as to whether the allowance being provided to them is sufficient and asked it to take immediate action in the matter.
