The Bhumi Adhikar Andolan, a land rights movement, has given a call to hold a State-wide campaign in various forms in front of Tehsil offices from May 14 to 17 demanding mobilisation of public opinion in a fair manner through Palli Sabha or Gram Sabha before enactment of any law on sharecropping or sharecroppers.
The activists would also submit memorandums to the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister through the concerned Tehsildars.
Besides, a State-level convention on ‘Protection of Sharecroppers’ would be organised at the Institution of Engineers here on May 23 for discussion various issues and demands of sharecroppers. Around 500 sharecroppers, farmers others would gather on the occasion to decide the future course of action under the banner of the Bhumi Adhikar Andolan, said member Narendra Mohanty.
