The final voters’ list for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State would be published on January 21, informed State Chief Electoral Officer Surendra Kumar on Thursday.
Addressing a Press conference here, he said January 4 was the earlier scheduled date for publication of the final voters’ list. However, the State Electoral Office had sought an additional time period of 15 days from the Election Commission of India for the purpose, which was granted, he said.
Kumar further informed that the first-level checking of all EVMs/VVPATs would be completed by January 25. This apart, a special drive (mock polling) to create awareness among voters over EVMs/VVPATs would begin in all 147 Assembly constituencies from January 7. Besides, training of poll officials at all levels would be completed by February 25.
