The State Government has decided to set up a Teachers’ Recruitment Board for filling a large number of teacher posts which have been remaining vacant for years together.

After reviewing the performance of the School and Mass Education Department on Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asked the department officials to take steps in this regard.

School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said the Chief Minister has sought a report on the proposed Teachers’ Recruitment Board within one month.

The Minister said all the gram panchayats would have high schools and the Government would set up a model school in each block.

On the proposed model schools, Mishra said that out of the State’s 314 blocks, 111 would have such model schools in the first phase followed by 51 in the second phase. He said the Government has upgraded 39 upper primary schools to high schools in 2015-16 and would set up 82 more high schools with assistance from the Rastriya Madhamik Shiksha Abhiyan fund.
