After 4,000-plus positive cases for over a week, the State witnessed a slight decline by registering 3,922 cases on Sunday from across all 30 districts and the State pool. With this, the State’s total infection tally reached 2, 09,374.Of the fresh cases, 2,309 patients were from quarantine while 1,613 were local contact, informed the Information and Public Relations Department. Khordha district again reported the daily highest 818 cases followed by Cuttack 380, Angul 200, Keonjhar 212, Puri 184, Bargarh 154, Mayurbhanj 149, Jagatsinghpur 123, Sambalpur 117, Nuapada 114, Jharsuguda 109, Kendrapada 107, Jajpur and Sundargarh 103 each, Balangir 85, Dhenkanal 76, Kalahandi 73, Baleswar 72, Koraput and Malkangiri 69 each, Kandhamal 62, Bhadrak 51, Boudh, Nayagarh and Rayagada 48 each, Nabarangpur 40, Ganjam 39, Subarnapur 25, Gajapati 22, Deogarh eight and State pool 214.
Meanwhile, the death toll mounted to 797 as 14 more patients succumbed to the virus on the day. While three patients each died in Cuttack and Khordha (including 2 from Bhubaneswar) districts, two deaths each were reported from Jajpur and Kendrapada districts. Gajapati, Balangir, Dhenkanal, and Subarnapur registered one death each.
The deceased in Khordha were a 42-year-old man, a 58-year-old man (both of Bhubaneswar) and a 67-year-old woman. The casualties in Cuttack were a 45-year-old woman, a 56-year-old man and a 42-year-old man.The deaths in Kendrapada were of a 52-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman.
The fatalities in Jajpur were of a 65-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman.The other deceased were a 60-year-old man of Balangir, a 45-year-old man of Dhenkanal, a 63-year-old man of Gajapati and a 31-year-old woman of Subarnapur. However, another 3,378 patients recovered on the day, taking the total recoveries to 1,73,571.The highest 540 recovered in Cuttack district followed by Khordha 289, Puri 200, Jajpur 176, Rayagada 141, Kandhamal and Sundargarh 137 each, Mayurbhanj 130, Sambalpur 127, Kendrapada 123, Jagatsinghpur 115, Baleswar 111, Keonjhar 102, Bargarh 100 , Koraput 99, Jharsuguda 86, Nabarangpur 84, Subarnapur 80, Kalahandi 76, Balangir 68, Malkangiri 63, Nuapada 49, Bhadrak 47, Angul 45, Dhenkanal 44, Ganjam 42, Nayagarh 36, Gajapati 31, Boudh 14, Deogarh seven and State pool 79.
