One more person succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday, with which the total toll rose to 1,922 in the State. The deceased was identified as a 29-year-old woman of Khordha district. Meanwhile, the positive cases remained over 400 for the third consecutive day with the reporting of 471 new cases in 27 districts, the highest in last four months. With this, the total positives’ tally surged to 3,42,695 in the State.
Notably, 461 cases had been reported on Friday and 452 on Saturday. Before that, the State had reported 418 cases on December 1.Of the new cases detected in last 24 hours, 278 were from quarantine centres and 193 were local contacts, said the State Information and Public Relations Department.The day’s highest 85 cases were reported from Sundargarh district followed by Kalahandi with 50, Nuapada 42, Khordha 40, Balangir 36, Sambalpur 27, Jharsuguda 23, Cuttack 22, Nabarangpur 17, Mayurbhanj 16, Baleswar 15, Puri 14, Ganjam 12, Jajpur 11 and Angul 10.The active cases in the State stood at 3,085 and the cumulative samples tested were 91,59,929, including 29,281, on Saturday.
