A state-of-the-art Neurosurgery Ward was inaugurated at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) by Deepika Mahila Sanghati president Manjari Prasad in presence of RSP CEO GS Prasad and other senior doctors and officers of the plant.
The ward has six high dependency beds, two cabin beds with attached toilets and nine general beds. The whole complex has been renovated for enhancing the level of comfort and better care of the patients.
The six high dependency beds having all basic life support systems are dedicated to very sick patients. This high dependency unit (HDU) is being manned by medical staff round the clock. Provision for oxygen supply and air way care for all the patients in this zone is also monitored round the clock. In the near future, central oxygen supply and artificial respirators will be stationed in the HDU for the best care of neurosurgery patients. This will cater to the ever increasing load of neurosurgical patients of the region.
In its endeavour to provide better quality care to the patients, the RSP has upgraded and added many new facilities to the IGH in recent times, said RSP sources. An Air-conditioned lounge has been inaugurated in the Nehru OPD. Foundation stone of the New Trauma and Emergency Unit has also been laid at the IGH and the work is expected to be completed soon. Air-conditioning facilities have been provided in the waiting halls in front of Operation Theatres one and two of the IGH. A ‘Gastroenterology and Haematology’ unit has also been inaugurated at the IGH.
