The State, which has so far received low rainfall, may get good amount of rainwater in the next 48 hours, said a MeT official release.
“Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha and West Bengal coasts this morning. This would cause rainfall in Odisha,” it said.
It predicted that thundershower would occur at many places in the State during the next 24 hours and that would further increase after 24 hours. Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in south Odisha during the next 24 hours, it warned. It warned fishermen to be cautious while venturing into the sea as gusty surface wind reaching a speed of 35kmph to 45kmph may prevail along and off the Odisha coast due to the low pressure.
