The State Government on Thursday declared Mucormycosis (Black Fungus) as a notifiable disease under Epidemic Disease Act 1897 in view of its spread among Covid patients.
Additionally, a State-level taskforce has been formed by the Health Department to monitor the incidence of these patients admitted in different hospitals of the State and formulate guidelines for early detection of these cases and their management after detection.
Recently, the taskforce has suggested a protocol for identification, treatment and follow-up action in addition to public awareness about the Black Fungus.
