State Budget betrays people: OJM, CPI(Ml)

PNS

Political outfits such as the Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-leninist) liberation, on Wednesday alleged that the State Government’s Budget has betrayed common people who voted the BJD Government to power with a thumping majority, expecting a lot from it.

OJM chief Pyarimohan Mohapatra said the Government overlooked the price rise issue by imposing two per cent additional VAT on petrol and diesel price. Hike in diesel and petrol rate would impact on the transportation sector as a result of which prices of essential commodities would go up, he added. Mohapatra said the Government has emphasised on the welfare of the big farmers by neglecting small and marginal farmers in the State. Even it ignored the issue of unemployed youths without giving any importance to it, he added.

Similarly, CPI(Ml) liberation Odisha State Committee secretary Khitish Biswal said the Budget is a bundle of false promises to deceive the common people of the State. “The State Government’s calculation of ‘impressive’ growth rate and poverty reduction is ridiculous,” said Biswal.
