State adopts Healthcare Investment Policy

PNS

In a bid to attract private investments into the State’s health sector, the State Government has unveiled a Healthcare Investment Promotion Policy.

Health and Family Welfare Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda, during a discussion on Wednesday, asked officials to prepare a roadmap attract investments into the sector as per guidelines of the policy.

According to the policy, the State Government has identified 11 out of 30 districts as priority districts to ensure quality healthcare services to people. The districts are Balangir, Boudh, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada and Subanapur.

Healthcare sector investments in priority districts would be accorded all the incentives available under the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2015 and treated as priority sector investment.

Capital subsidy would be provided on capital investment made in the projects and it would be limited to 30 per cent of the capital investment with a ceiling of `10 crore for Grade I and `5 crore for each higher-grade hospital.

The Government would provide priority in allocation of land for new hospital projects in the priority districts, according to the policy.

The healthcare projects would be cleared by the State level Single Window Clearance Authority (SlSWCA). This would smoothen and fast-track the clearance process and, thus, encourage investors, said an official.

The policy, which would remain in operation for a period of five years, would promote establishment of healthcare institutions with advanced technology, feel officials.
