The State on Sunday registered 649 new Covid-19 cases in 29 districts and the State pool, surging the total tally to 10,16,362. Among those infected were 103 more children in the age group of 0 to18 years.Notably, the State had reported 630 positive cases on Saturday.
In last 24 hours, 60,298 samples were tested and test positivity rate (TPR) for day was 1.07 per cent. The active cases stood at 6,957.Out of new 649 cases, 381 were detected from quarantined and 268 local contacts. Khordha district reported the day’s highest 235 cases followed by Cuttack with 84, Baleswar and Jagatsinghpur 37 each, Mayurbhanj and Jajpur 30 each, Sundargarh 25, Kendrapada 24 and Puri 17.
The districts reporting below 10 cases are Angul, Keonjhar and Sambalpur nine each, Jharsuguda and Bhadrak six each, Koraput, Balangir and Ganjam five each, Rayagada three, Nuapada, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal two each and Nabaranpur, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Deogarh one each.Besides, 52 cases were reported from State pool. Six more patients succumbed to the disease in last 24 hours, mounting total death toll to 7,098.Baleswar and Puri districts reported two deaths each followed by Cuttack and Khordha with one each. However, 874 more patients recovered, increasing total recoveries to 10,02,128 in State.
