The State on Saturday registered 247 new Covid-19 positive cases in 20 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally increased to 10, 45,209.
Among the newly-infected were 37 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Notably, the State had reported as many as 263 cases on Friday. Out of the new cases, 144 cases were reported from quarantine and 103 local contacts.
Khordha district reported the day’s highest 129 cases followed by Cuttack with 21, Sambalpur 13 and Mayurbhanj 12.
The districts which recorded below-10 cases were Jagatsinghpur nine, Jajpur eight, Kendrapada and Deogarh seven each, Jharsuguda and Koraput three each, Baleswar, Dhenkanal, Gajapati and Puri two each and Bargarh, Malkangiri and Rayagada one each. Besides, 32 cases were reported from the State pool. The active cases were 2,790. Two more persons succumbed to the disease, mounting the total death toll to 8,375.
The fatalities were reported from Ganjam and Koraput district. So far, a total of 10, 33,991 people have recovered from the disease in the State.
