The State on Sunday registered the highest single-day Covid-19 surge in recent months with the reporting of 346 new positive cases from 18 districts and the State pool. With this, the total tally rose to 12,90,538.
Among the newly-infected were 49 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Notably, the State had recorded 231 cases on Saturday.
Out of the new cases, 202 were reported from quarantine and 144 local contacts.
Khordha district reported the highest 189 new cases followed by Cuttack with 51, Sundargarh 13, Baleswar, Jagatsinghpur and Nuapada seven each, Sambalpur and Rayagada five each, Bhadrak and Puri four each, Jharsuguda and Mayurbhanj two each and Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Nayagarh two each.
Besides, 41 cases were reported from the State pool.
With the fresh addition, the active cases in the State increased to 1,310. While 12,80,049 patients have recovered, 9,126 have succumbed to the virus so far.
