Even as the Puri district administration and the State police are denying that any stampede-like situation took place during the Rath Yatra on Saturday, all the six patients from Puri currently undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital here are suffering from multiple injuries leading to chest pain and breathing problems, thereby indicating that they have sustained the injuries due to the stampede.
“The accompanying preliminary medical documents of the patients have also mentioned that the causes of injuries are due to the stampede,” informed SCB Hospital Emergency Officer BN Moharana on Sunday. All the six patients were admitted late on Saturday evening and their conditions are stated to be stable.
