Srikant slams State Govt over mining scam

PNS

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Srikant Jena on Saturday came down heavily on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government over several issues.

Referring to the Shah Commission of Inquiry report on the mining scam, Jena alleged that the State Government is not only retaining power but also controlling the administration with the money gained from the scam.

Attending a function at Baleswar, Jena further alleged that while the Centre has been pumping enough funds to the State under several schemes in various sectors including education, electricity, road, rice subsidy for BPl and poverty alleviation, the State Government has been taking all the credits for it.

He said that although fund is available with the Centre for a permanent solution to floods in river Subarnarekha yet no proposal has been sent from the concerned department of the State in this regard.

Jena inaugurated a vocational training centre for the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) at Baliapal. Union Joint Secretary of Chemicals and Fertilisers Ministry Avinash Joshi said the training centre would supplement the manpower requirement for the upcoming petrochemical units at Paradip and other stations. local leaders demanded renovation of the Coast Canal and stoppage of some trains at the Basta station.
