This western city of the State witnessed a euphoric New Year celebration on Tuesday night. While youths and mid-aged were busy in night parties, the old were seen spending the midnight lighting lamps at temples here.
The hotels here also witnessed huge crowds mostly comprising rich, top-rank Government officials and celebrities capable of affording exorbitant prices. Others welcomed the New Year in clubs, makeshift tents and individual houses.
“Winter can’t deter us from celebrating the New Year.
We are going to welcome the New Year with dances and songs,” said a youth. Devotes of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo were seen gathering at the Matru Niwas here for midnight meditation. The meditation continued for half-an-hour, said Sriballav Panigrahi, a devotee of the Mother. =
