Acting on a complaint filed by rights activist Jayant Kumar Das, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an action-taken report (ATR) from the Sambalpur district Superintendent of Police (SP) within four weeks in the case of the gangrape of a teenage girl by five truck drivers.
The petitioner alleged that five truck drivers raped a minor girl of Bamada area in Sambalpur district in Barpali forest on June 3. later local rescued the girl in an unconscious state and admitted her to MCl hospital for treatment in a critical condition.
The petitioner has filed the petition basing on a news report published in a Odia daily urging the Commission for speedy justice to the victim and immediate arrest of the culprits.
