To resolve Dutee Chand issue

It’s better late than never. After hue and cry in the media regarding ace sprinter Dutee Chanda’s last-minute exclusion from the list of the Glasgow-bound Indian CWG contingent, the State Sports and Youth Services Department has sent two women coaches to hold discussions with the Sports Authority of India (SAI)’s Bangalore centre director.

Athletic coach Rupanita Panda and volleyball coach Usha Mohanty left here on Thursday afternoon.

Dutee was on July 15 dropped from the Indian squad for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) after she failed a recent test that showed her having high level of androgen (male hormone) in her body.

But the last-minute exclusion of the 18-year-old athlete from Jajpur district sparked a row due to te Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Athletics Federation of India (AFI) dealing with the issue in a clandestine manner.

Sources said both the coaches would return along with Dutee. There have been no clear reports on why the last minute expulsion took place.
