SpiceJet loses customers’ faith in J’suguda

RAJ KUMAR SHARMA

Within a few months of inauguration of flight service, the number of passengers at the Veer Surendra Sai Airport at Jharsuguda has increased beyond expectation.

The number is increasing day by day in three routes after inauguration of SpiceJet flight service to Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad from March 31 last.  But due to cancellation of flights frequently , the passengers have been dissatisfied with the SpiceJet Management. Even a lot of disturbances are being seen in the airport for this reason.

Last week, the passengers created uproar in the airport for being stranded in the airport overnight due to cancellation of flights in Kolkata route. The reason for such cancellation was also not intimated to passengers. The passengers are facing difficulties for attending to urgent works.

On Wednesday, the flight took off for Jharsuguda from Kolkata. But after half an hour, it returned to Kolkata airport due to want of signals.  The passengers were to board Hyderabad flight after landing at Jharsuguda.  Around 78 passengers were waiting for this flight at the Jharsuguda airport after completing check-in formalities.

But no information about cancellation of the flight was given which irked passengers. The situation went beyond control for some passengers including patients who were to appear examination and take hospital treatment at Hyderabad. The SpiceJet management also could not make any alternate arrangements for the passengers which may create losing confidence in the passengers in the coming days. The number of passengers may reduce also due to this attitude of the SpiceJet management, sources said.
