In what could be good news for regional connectivity in Odisha, the Spice Jet will once again resume flight services to Hyderabad from Jharsuguda’s Veer Surendra Sai Airport. The connectivity will start from January 20.

The airline was earlier providing the service but had stalled it for a few months after a directive from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The services resumed after the Spice Jet once again submitted a proposal in this regard.

There would be connectivity between Jharsuguda and Hyderabad during day time from January 20 to March 15. From March 16, the flight service would be during evening hours, sources said.

The Spice Jet was previously providing air connectivity from Jharsuguda to Delhi while the Alliance Air was providing service from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. The Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsugua, has been providing regional connectivity to neighbouring States and commuters to Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have been depending on it since long. It is among 58 airports across the country which has been included in the Krishi Udan 2.0 scheme.
