Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) president Nitish Kumar and his party colleague Sharad Yadav on Tuesday met Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik at his residence here, sparking speculation about formation of a Third Front to check the BJP and the Congress.

Though both Kumar and Yadav said no such discussion took place in their separate meetings with Patnaik, the two JD(U) leaders said any development in this regard would be seen in future.

After paying homage to former lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray, Nitish Kumar first called on Patnaik.

When asked about any political discussion between them, Kumar replied, “Nothing was political; it was purely personal.”

On a possible formation of Third Front, Kumar quipped, “To be seen in future.”

Sharad Yadav, when asked about the Third Front after his meeting with Patnaik, said, “Nothing of that sort today. Whenever I come to Odisha, a courtesy call to Naveen Babu is a must. Even I used to pay courtesy call on Bijudada during my Odisha visits then.”

He said the meeting between him and the CM was mainly focused on the ongoing Uttar Pradesh elections.

Commenting on the panchayat elections results in Odisha, Yadav said the BJP has gone up only a bit, but they are beating the drum a lot.
