On the occasion of 82nd birth anniversary of Nandini Satapthy, the only woman Chief Minister of the State and also the only woman leader from the State till date to represent in the Central Cabinet, Samajwadi Party Odisha State Committee demanded installation of her statue in the capital city.
The party State president Rabi Behera in a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik demanded that an award after the former CM’s name be given to the best woman legislator every year.
“When your Government is taking up various programmes on women empowerment, why not name the proposed SHG Bhawan at Pokhariput on Women’s Day as Nandini Bhawan,” said Behera, adding, “It will be an inspiration for all upcoming women leaders who aspire to join public life.”
