PNS

The suspension of former Kendrapada SP Satish Gajbhiye has been extended by six months. A decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati last week.

Notably, Gajbhiye was placed under suspension on August 13 for the police excesses during the anti-Sarathi Baba protest in Kendrapada on August 7 in violation of the service rules.

Prior to that, the Government had shunted Gajbhiye out to the police headquarters as officer without duty at the height of the disturbances in Kendrapada on August 7 and replaced by Nitinjit Singh.

The Home Department Principal Secretary had served a notice to Gajbhiye on October 13 after charges were framed against him. Besides, the Union Government had approved his suspension since October 17 as per All India Service Rules.

The notice sought a reply from Gajbhiye explaining why action should not be taken against him. He is expected to comply with it within 30 days.
