The Samajwadi Party has demanded that the State Government withdraw the notification regarding hike in the toll fee from bus passengers and owners.
As per the notification, while one-third of the toll charge would be borne by bus owners, two-thirds would be paid by passengers.
“For example, a passenger has to pay `8 to go Baleswar from Cuttack. likewise, a bus owner has to shell out `5 per passenger as per the notification,” pointed out Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera. In a letter to Minister for Commerce and Transport Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Behera threatened, “If the State Government does not roll back the toll fee, a mass agitation would be launched.”
