A worker of the Southern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha ltd (Southco) died at Golabandh village under the Gopalpur police station when he came in contact with a high-voltage live electric wire on Wednesday. The victim was identified as S Siva Rao. The incident occurred when Rao was doing some repairing work on an electric pole near the local bus-stand. The local people immediately took the victim to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here, where he was declared dead. local Sarapanch A Rama Chandra Rao has demanded that the Southco authorities immediately pay adequate compensation to the victim’s family.
