The Cuttack district and sessions judge Shatrughna Pajahari on Thursday convicted a 22-year-old youth for brutally killing his father in August 2011 and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment under section 302 of IPC.
Ketan Bhoi of Dahigaan under Cuttack Sadar police station here had attacked his father Baja Bhoi on August 4, 2011 with a sharp weapon.When Baja succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, Ketan went underground.
He was however, subsequently apprehended by the police following complaints filed by Baja’s other son Sanatan. According to police investigation, Ketan attacked his father when the latter objected to former’s decision of marrying a girl of their own village.
Holding trial in the case, the court examined at least 12 prosecution witnesses and convicted the accused of murder. Sentencing the accused to undergo life imprisonment, the court also slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on the convict.
