PNS

Odisha Pachhua Barga Bikash Manch members on Saturday went in a rally from the railway station here to PMG Square and held a public meeting pressing for fulfilment of their longstanding demands.

In the meeting presided over by Krushnachandra Prusty, the speakers lamented that a 27-per cent reservation for OBCs in jobs has not been  implemented in the State due to the negligence of the Government.

They said that out of the 52-per cent OBCs residing in the State, only 11.25 per cent are getting reservation in jobs. There is no reservation for the OBCs in the educational institutions and an OBC Commission is yet to be set up in the State.

The speakers also alleged that the OBC Finance and Development Corporation is yet to become functional even after 10 years. There are no residential educational institutions in the State for OBCs; and till date, census for OBCs hasn’t been undertaken.

Later, a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minster was submitted to his Secretary. Among others, former Minister Bhajaman Behera, Odisha Pacchua Barga Bikash Manch working president Dhaleswar Mania,  general secretary Sarok Kumar Behera, vice-president Arjun Mahakuda, treasurer Sridhar Das and secretary Mahendra Kayasth spoke.
